This year’s Keynote Speaker is David Newsom of the Wild Yards Project!
Keynote: The Land Was Always A Garden
This is a conversation about liberating plants from their botanically and biologically catastrophic role as decoration, and putting them back at the helm of driving LIFE in the places we learn, play and work within. In doing so, the talk will nudge us all to rethink built space in our cities and suburbs and create with the “Whole Community” of Plants > Animals > People in mind. This will be as much a conversation about how we frame our relationship to the natural world as it will a practical look at the biological, structural and psychological/physical benefits of designing for habitat. Less concerned with being a “presentation” this talk will be an invitation to discussion, a sharing of understandings and experiences, and, most important, a call to arms to put plants first and support them to make a better world for all living things.
